Movies you must see

Updated (7/5/2019)

Life changing.

I have lost count of the numbers of times I have watched these movies, bought the DVD, or downloaded, and given them to folks I am not even sure that they watched them.

Forks over Knives was on Netflix the last I looked.  Free.

Watch it … it will change your life and save you TONS of hospital bills, and a lot of PAIN.

Eating You Alive can be purchased or downloaded at this web site … https://www.eatingyoualive.com/buyfilm

I remember paying almost $40 for a number of the first DVDs available.  These will cost less than $15.

A download is less than $10.

Believe me, I wish I had watched these years ago… or at least heard the message.

Believe me, it is cheaper to pay for these movies rather than pay for a Triple By Pass, a life time of medicine, Doctors visits….all that pain and suffering …

Do yourself a favor…..

Watch these movies.

********** that is how I ‘signed off October 20, 2017 when I first published this as one of my first Blogs.

The message has not changed in these days since then.

I am still #wfpbno, I have started running since then, and so far have over 1400 miles logged.

I am on Instagram now as well as Twitter.

It is a lot of fun!

I have read/listened  hundreds more hours of books on Nutrition, Health, Science, Dinosaurs, and SciFi possibilities…. and some American, and World History … and stuff…

Still here, and still ‘kickin’ and now promoting that Marathon to be held in 2065 ….

Bean Liquor, what do you do with yours?

The juice from the beans gets used at my house!

You know the Bean Liquor, or bean juice can be used for so many things…. Like making meringue….. (More on that later!)

I have always had a hang up about wasting things. Betty calls I an OCD. (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder).

I call it being frugal.

Whatever.

I take the juice from the cans of veggies, and beans, which usually are thrown away, and put it in something….as in this picture, my Oats.

Did I mention I eat Old Fashion Oats without cooking them. I use them like a crouton or garnish to anything I get the notion to add them too. I can eat them all by themselves. The flavor is wonderful.

But they are a bit dry, so, I am soaking this batch in the Green Bean Liquor from the can we added to the Pizza. I will just eat the rest of the FC Green Beans with my Breakfast/Lunch tomorrow.

I have no problem eating beans with “Breakfast”. Beans are so good for you and they have a second meal offering for the lower gut things that are so necessary to good health. ( they have to have fiber to live on, and flourish … And you know the only way to provide fiber is from whole/unprocessed fruits, veggies, and beans/legumes).

So, tomorrow for Breakfast I will take this container of Oats, Beans, and Soaked Old Fashion Oats, and add fresh ground Flax Seed, Hibiscus Tea, Gunpowder Green Tea, Powdered Ginger, Cinnamon, and maybe some Cocoa Powder, Bananas, Oranges, some Rice, Steamed Potatoes, Walnuts, Almonds, Sunflower Seeds, Rasins, and a large helping of dark Green Leafy Vegetables (Collard, Turnip, Mustard Greens, Spinach, Cilantro ….

And eat till I am STUFFED.

Oh, sometimes I toss in a bit of Cayenne Pepper for excitement… Plus peppers are really healthy ( without oil added to them of course…)

Pizza tonight!

A splurge for tonight!

The pizza crust is whole wheat ( yeah I know, I need to make my own crust)… we will get there!

But this one is marinara sauce, onions, bell peppers, cauliflower ‘taco’ bits, and half with French Sliced Green Beans…

We usually enjoy the homemade pizza with homemade chickbean hummus….

There won’t be any left over!

I bet I use the words “fatman says” 12 times a day…

Fatmanrants.com. (Tim Kaufman)

This guy is a hero to me.

I know I will never get famous writing about other people, but this is just too good to not share.

There are people out there who have encouraged me in my journey…

Fatmanrants is the guy I tell all the tough guys, the real men, to follow on facebook. His pictures of his food, and the simplicity in making them is an encouragement to me personally. But his story… omg. ( and don’t get me started about Mrs. FatMan! You have to Love her!)

Plus if you eat like Tim, it is healthy, and cool at the same time, as well as simple. That is the way it is, eating plants.

His attitude about it all is even more encouraging.

Oh sure, I have had many difficulties in my life, and I guess the Heart Attack and Triple By Pass qualify for possible life ending events…. But some people have had it much worse, and have developed such wonderful attitudes…

… Like Tim, and the fellow in the story linked above who ran with a limp, and compensated with a happy heart.

I guess if there a legal ramifications, or ‘Ray, you just don’t do that on your blog!’… Because I posted this link to the story about the marathon, then I will find out and see what happens from that point.

Well so be it…

Thanks for sharing the story Tim. I just shared it too.

You are hero stuff.

Why does it have to end?

… the last one of the season …

I guess the end of the seasonal fruits and veggies has to come… but it sure hurts!

I remember reading that I could eat all the fruit I wanted. Since the Whole Fruit was consumed, therefore giving the body the unprocessed fruit in the original packaging, and the fiber made it a good thing, and not the bad thing the manufacturers of juices and processed fruit items want to to think.

I have bought sacks full of Texas Oranges, in season, that were so good, I would eat them skin and all… And eat several in a sitting.

And that sitting was almost all the time, since I drove sometimes hundreds of miles a day while ‘at work’.

At the end of that season of the Texas Oranges, they were no longer available at the stores, and sure not for sale at nine cents each.

I went through withdrawal. So I went to the next seasonal fruit. It just makes good sense that fruit comes off the tree or plant, in a season, and it would be a good time to eat it fresh, and try to preserve some for the ‘off season’.

Well, through these last two plus years, I have done the best I can at watermelon during its normal season. Not the seedless fancy kind, I am saying the watermelon with seeds in them.

I know the stores always offer the personal sized melons yu could carry in your pocket, but, no thanks….. I want a local 50 pounder that thumps just right, has a big orange spot on the side that rested on the ground, and scars on the outer skin where evidence of healthy pollination occurred, as well as teeth marks from Coyotes testing for the sweetest melons in the patch.

I usually pick out a good melon, I am proud to say.

But folks, it is the end of the season he in North Texas.

It is a sad day.

What is now needed is an abundant crop of Texas Ruby Red Grapefruit to come on at twenty cents each, like they were last year.

Remind me to tell you why Grapefruit are one of the major reasons why I am not on Statin Drugs today.

But that is another story.

For today, respect is give to the passing of local watermelon season of 2017.

RIP

Some of my tools…

from the leg weights I have borrowed from Betty, I also have the 3,5, and 30 pound bar bells(?is that what you call those?)

I have not used the 30 pounders yet. I am still thinking about the wisest manner to put those to use…

I am sure it will not be during the time the treadmill is running

This is how ‘frustrated’ looks and feels…..

After almost two days of trying to change a picture on the original set up of the blog page, this is an example of how I felt.

I am reminded of the evening my youngest son and I were attempting to drain the water heater, you know, to perform that maintenance that ensures the longevity of the unit. For the life of me, or of the water heater, I could not get the water to come out of the heating unit. I even went down hill to the end of the water hose and sucked a hicky on my mouth and lips….. Nothing.

Cussing kicking and bitching I was shutting that show down all upset, when Josh came back from a 5 minute absence and yelled ‘wait Dad!’ As he put the hose back on the heater unit, flipped a thing on the top of the heater and water began to rush to the curb….flushing the heater.

All shocked, flushed, and butt faced…. I inquired where he discovered that little trick of releasing the valve. With a little grin he replied….’youtube’.

This little kid schooled me on YouTube and how to google that night, and I have been a follower ever since.

Well, after I get all grumpy, pissed, and make a show of myself….

So it was with this picture change event I have messed with these last two days.

“…. Get a blog Ray, it will be fun…” they said ….”

Remember, No Calories were Counted, No Protein was Measured, NO CARBS WERE FEARED … In the changing of that picture …. but I may have broke a toe kicking stuff trying to figure this dang puzzle of a web site admin stuff….

MERCY!!

oldmanskinandbones

(old dog might not WANT to learn new tricks) {smh}

Actually, this is an example of WHY every bite I take, and put into my body is so important.

Stress causes the free radicals to get crazy … and they bounce around causing damage which is bad for good health. When you eat Whole Food (plants, veggies, fruits, whole grains) they bring to the body antioxidants that ‘put out’ or stop the free radical bad guys.

However, if you are not eating real food, there are no antioxidants available.

Processed material (foods?) offers no antioxidants…and little to no nutritional value.

You can’t just spray some chemical mixture on stuff and call it, ‘enriched’ or ‘vitamin fortified’ and expect your body to just accept it as what the manufacturing company told you to believe it is….

(Dang, I can’t believe I just ended this post with a preposition….)

Motivation comes in unusual ways…

It motivates me…

I have weighed as much as 240 pounds. I am 5’8″ and according to the govnments BMI, I should weigh 140.

I lost down to 162 so far.

I can never remember being at that weight. Must have been in Grade School. For sure before I started working at the local Grocery Store in the mid 60s, and began to keep a stash of junk food hidden from Mom, and my Brothers.

Nevertheless, without exercise, I lost 78 pounds….so far.

But someone very dear to me told me I looked like an old man with bony arm with nothing but skin on them.

Others agreed.

So, I decided I’d show them, and I got the treadmill out of storage, and cranked it up.

I also started with some 3 pound weights, and have moved to the 5 pounders. The 30 pound bell weights are in line for….maybe next month.

You know, that motivated me, and has had beneficial results. …nothing but skin and bones…. Well … I’ll show em…

I need motivation. What motivates you?

(yeah, we will see about that skin and bone thingy ….)

Is it ‘acceptable’ to post more than once a day?

Ok, I wanted to show the latest ‘Breakfast’ creation.

Pear, Peach, Banana, Purple Cabbage, Tomato, Coconut (unsweetened), Rasins, Walnuts, Old Fashioned Oats, Fresh Ground Flax Seed, and Hibiscus Flowers, Gunpowder Green Tea, and a dash of Cinnamon, and a big helping of Ground Ginger…

I realized I didn’t add the usual Almond Milk….

Most of my meals are ‘spur of the moment’ concoctions.

I think they are pretty. They are also the results of my pouring over books, videos, reports … …

Which is why I grind Hibiscus and Green Tea with my Flax Seeds. I can’t really taste either one, but I know they are reported to add such wonderful benefits like anti-oxidants, and make you smarter….

Plus, that hibiscus really makes everything it touches a pretty red color… Including the t-shirt I have on…. And the the cup towel and cutting board in the kitchen…

I wonder what color my ‘insides’ are after a day of eating turmeric powder, hibiscus tea leaves, and all those other anti oxident rich foods and spices. It is reported that the darker or more ‘rich’ the color of food, indicates the greater the value of nutrition it has to offer.

Whole Foods, of course.

Purple Oatmeal!!

The more colorful, the better I like it! And how can you say ‘no’ to purple oatmeal?!

Yesterday I was running a bit late so I was throwing stuff together and pictured here is the results!

It was fantastic. Including the steamed potato.

One thing I have found to be so true in my expierence, is that once I allowed my tongue to exist without a huge volume of salt and sugar, my ability to taste the flavor of real foods was off the charts!

I add No Salt, No Oil, No Sugar to anything I eat now. Not even olive nor coconut oil…. not even pink hocus pocus mountain salt…nope, none, zilch, zip, nada….

One day, a long time ago, while I worked for the local Grocery store I found a broken container of Old Fashioned Oats. I grabbed a handful, and tossed it in my mouth. After the dry went away, I found the flavor was enjoyable, and since then, just ‘out of the container’ Old Fashion Oats’ has been my preferred method of consuming Oats.

Early in my journey away from the Sad American Death Diet, I would used Old Fashion Oats like croutons on my Salads. Also at that time I would pile on the beans and tell myself those were my meat replacement.

I was one of those guys who demanded dead animal muscle material, or organs at every meal…. Or it wasn’t a meal….

After my heart attack and deeper research about the effect of animal protein on the human body, I was glad Old Fashion Oats and beans were so high on my list of prefered foods.

They were Cheap! And you could grab these food items at the local under a dollar store for just a few dollars.

I have no problem for those who spend the extra money for all organic. More power to you, and that industry!

But folks hear about my ‘weird’ way of eating and the first thought they have is that I eat all organic stuffs. Then they tell themselves that they cannot, could not or would not afford to eat like that…

You don’t have to go ‘organic’… wear sandals … Stop using proper body hygiene and go total ‘hippy’…

To eat healthy, just stop doing the dollar menu at the fast food window of government subsidized fast food drive thru …

Keep it simple.

Discount Store beans, rice, garnished with ‘
Croutons of the Rolling Fields’…(Old Fashion Oat Meal)….

Oh yeah, the reason the Oats in the picture are ‘purple’, is due to the blue berries I poured from the sack I bought at Aldi grocery….you know, that store where you buy from the cases, provide your own sacks, and …. it is one of those ‘cheap priced’ places….

My favorite kinda place!

Remember, in all of this…. No Calories were counted, No Protein was measured, NO CARBS WERE FEARED!

… And keep that food pretty! In a Whole Food kinda way, of course!

Later dudes…
