Get In the KITCHEN! (Or End Up Not Healthy)

Yeah, I know we are all busy, but let’s be honest. We have been programmed to be faithful little consumers.

If you are going to be healthy, you are going to have to improve your time in the kitchen, pay more attention to the purchasing of real food, and stay away from the Drive-Through-Window Diet.

If you are having to tip wait staff more than the grocery carry out person, you are not doing it the healthy way.

And, realizing I have probably run off 99% of my readers by now, I will say it again…

YOU are responsible for your health.

Take charge … and YES, YOU CAN DO IT!

Stop allowing the advertisements and the guys at work to mandate your health.

I have had another grand adventure in the kitchen this morning, and I want to share it with you.

If I can do it, anyone can do it.

I had two cups of the best coffee in the world (Betty’s coffee of course), ran almost 5.5 miles, ate breakfast, drove about 9 miles to buy groceries, stopped halfway back to complete grocery purchases at another store, unloaded and put up said purchases, and then sat for a little rest about 11 am.

Then I saw a recipe for this!

I was hungry and got up to prepare this item!

Chickpea Nuggets (click here for recipe)

The picture on their website is much prettier than mine.

I altered the recipe a bit, but I do that with 95% of what I cook/bake.

In this case, I added more spices and a mix of Chia Seeds to act as a binding agent.  I may try oatmeal flour next time.

Here is the rating …

These are “Betty Approved.”

As you who know Betty, if she approves … it is good!

This is my plate.

The Chickpea Nuggets have ketchup and sriracha sauce on them, but they passed Betty’s taste test plain.

Oh, and the sandwich on the left of my plate is the No Tuna Salad Sandwich (click here for recipe)

If you have not seen my previous postings about this stuff, well, to put it mildly, it is SO Betty approved we rarely go many days without it in the fridge, ready to go!

Yep, I almost always make a double batch of that!

It is served on low sodium Ezekiel 4:9 bread with tomatoes and romaine lettuce.

All of that done this morning.

I do not want to be the reason I have to have another bypass operation.  I do not want to be the reason there is another attempt to place a stent in an artery to help blood flow or save my life.

Bypass operations, stents, drugs (statins, blood pressure, etc.) DO NOT FIX ANY HEALTH PROBLEM.

I was not “fixed” with the triple bypass back in October 2015.

The problem was the 60 years of eating unhealthy food prepared with no consideration for health.

I did it to myself with the Standard American Death Diet.

No more.

That lazy, irresponsible life is OVER.

That is why I do not count calories, I do not measure protein, nor do I FEAR CARBS.

Be IN CHARGE of your health.

You can do it.

You must.
