Book Review, “Walking With Peety,The Dog Who Saved My Life”

This book was suggested by a number of Running Club members.

These are real ‘tough guys’ in the Running group too..

My initial reactions to the suggestion to read a story about a dog, when I was wanting suggestions about RUNNING caused a bit of confusion on my part.

One of the suggestions to read the book came from a fellow Club member, named Eric.  (YES! ERIC O’GREY!)

I had only been running a few weeks and had just devoured “Finding Ultra, Rejecting Middle Age, Becoming One of the World’s Fittest Men, and Discovering Myself” by Rich Roll, and “Eat and Run: My Unlikely Journey to Ultramarathon Greatness by Scott Jurek.

I was on a roll and wanted more…. and this is where Running With Peety came in…. WAIT!  the title of the book was WALKING WITH PEETY….

Walking… …. ….. ?

I was just finding out I was, maybe, becoming a runner… walking did not seem attractive to me.

So after a wait, I finally purchased  “Walking with Peety The Dog Who Saved My Life”, Book by Eric O’Grey.

I was not ready for this book, so I waited a few more days, and then…. it was time.
I had been on a long run for me, which is anything over 8 miles these days, when the book I had been listening to completed, and I was ‘hungry’ for more learning via the audio reading over my ear buds while I was running.
While I was going past my house again, I stopped for more water, some bananas, and a quick download of another book to my phone.
The first book in line was “Walking with Peety The Dog Who Saved My Life”, Book by Eric O’Grey.
Before the next half mile, I was hooked.
I have now completed the book, and I can say, it is a book about running.  And living, loving, forgiving, building… … … and so much more.
WARNING! TOUGH GUYS!  (Y’all know who we are !!)
Be sure you have something to ‘wipe sweat’ several times during a run while listening to this book.
Three times, while running, I was glad anyone who saw me, must have thought I was just wiping the perspiration from my face, when in fact, I was shedding tears.
The second of those three times, I was just plain ol’ sobbing.
But the only people who know that are my wife, myself, and now, the readers of this blog/book review.
This is a book that every person in America should enjoy, and needs to read.
It is more than just a nice story.
This book could change your life … even save your life.
The epidemic of Chronic Lifestyle Diseases of Choice, and the toxic manner by which it is systematically destroying our Country as well as the individuals, is so sad… and so preventable.
You deserve this book.
You deserve the messages of this book.
Even you ‘TOUGH GUYS’.
Do yourself a favor, get this book, read it … then give it to those who can take their own happiness, in their own hands, and be really proud they did so.
Just like you will.
You see, the biggest message I received from the book was just that….. MY HAPPINESS is in my hands.
I do not need to be blaming, genetics, Mom or Dad, my brothers, my family, friends, the environment, the City, County, nor the Country for my happiness.
It is all IN MY HANDS.
There are so many other lessons in the book.
Trust me, it is worth every penny you spend to get it, and every minute you take putting it into practice.
I think it could also be the best Christmas Gift, Birthday Present, Graduation Gift, as well as ‘JUST BECAUSE’ gift you could ever give….
I wonder if the Local Library has one for lending?
Let’s get ‘happy’ what do you say?
Let’s get healthy, and consider there IS someone out there waiting for you to come rescue them…
Let’s find them!
