My Blood Test Results: B-12, Vitamin D and Other Points of WFPB Interest

The moment I stopped smoking Good Friday 2008, most of my fellow smokers knew I would be back.

They were wrong.

I kept two open packs of Doral Lites and an unopened carton until 2017 when I packed them away in a barrel of things I might need should the world as we know it come to an end, and civilization collapse.

Yeah, I still have the barrel.

But I stopped smoking that day, March 21, 2008, and never looked back.  Cold turkey, and never had more than a mild craving.  All the dozens of times I stopped in the past the cravings were severe, and I always bought the next pack and carried on with the addiction.

When I stopped using animal growth hormone/baby calf tittie juice, as well as all dairy products, it too was over.

This time, even the use of Blue Bell ice cream was over.

When I stopped the consumption of dead animal body parts, it too was over.

I won’t be fooled again.

But the reaction from friends was totally opposite to stopping cigarettes.

Repeated concern that I would become ill, protein deficient, and just an all out weirdo was obvious in the reactions of several friends and family members.

But my health was always a major concern for a large number of the guys who had shared carryout bags loaded with deep-fried bean burritos and corn dogs from the local gas stations… they were worried about my health since I was giving up that sort of source of protein and… healthy way of eating.

(Really, think about it…. if God did create Man and place him in the Garden to frolic with all the animals, and everyone eating the plants and fruits… did He make a mistake with Plan A?)

[OK, I probably should take that last sentence out and save it for another blog…]

**************

I just had my fourth blood test result since the triple bypass.

I have visited a local doctor twice. I received a general checkup each time and a full run of the blood tests.

Each time, the results are overwhelmingly reported in the ‘normal range’ except for one area, and it improves each time.

We will treat that subject in a blog of its own.

What I wish to address in this blog are the three BIG QUESTIONS asked of people who do not eat nor consume any animal products or dairy.

In my case, please add processed oil of any kind to this, so there are four big questions I get all the time.

#1.  I do not use ANY OILS for cooking or baking.  They are of no value to my human body.  Any and all OIL I consume is found in WHOLE FOODS, ie flax seed, chia seed, avocados, tree nuts, etc.

#2.  “Where do you get your calcium?”  Plants.  The same place the animals get the calcium to build their bones to carry their, in some cases, large bodies, i.e., cows.

(You did know drinking animal milk drains your body of calcium thus causing osteoporosis, right?)

#3.  “Where do you get your Vitamin D?” Sunlight, and a healthy kidney and liver.  Yeah, I have read how all that happens. It is a harmony of actions and nutritionally-provided substance that results in Vitamin D, which is actually a hormone as I understand.  Apparently, I am getting enough.  And since I only eat plants and other WHOLE FOODS, my answer is sunlight and plants.

#4.  “Where do you get your B-12?”  I do take a liquid B Vitamin mix which includes B-12  that is OTC and relatively inexpensive.  I also use nutritional yeast as a great tasting addition to… everything I dare put it on.  Some say it offers a cheesy taste to everything from hot-air-popped corn to salads.  I won’t even begin to tell you all the places I  have put and enjoyed nutritional yeast.  That is another blog.

(By the way, most farmed animals sold for consumption of dead muscle/body parts are NOT getting B-12 from the dirt. It is fed to them via supplements. Check out where those animals are living, and you will see any self-respecting B-12 bacteria would never want, nor be able to survive, in that… slop.)

So, there you go. Oldmanskinandbones is getting all these things from plants and living the Whole Food Plant-Based Lifestyle.

The blood test at the doctor’s office is proof that you can be healthy without anything other than plants, healthy exercise, a good attitude, and totally avoiding the Standard American Death Diet.

All these areas reported within the NORMAL range.

I could say so much more, but I am going to leave it here…

‘Til next time.
