Breakfast! Before I mix it together…

Yes, I am currently eating this as I am typing…

Collard, Turnip, Mustard Greens, Kale, Tomato, top left bowl.

Green Bowl bottom left contains banana, cranberries, black berries, blue berries. rice, quinoa, almond soaked old fashioned oats, slices of a lemon wedge(peal and all)

The bowls center and right side are a three bean soup Betty makes, Mayocoba (Peruvian) Beans,  and the already mentioned blue berries…

Each of these items will be mixed in the green bowl, (my favorite to use for every meal!)

Yes I am eating each of these mixed together for various reasons.

Mainly because I am really hungry and I eat a lot…. and I enjoy the contrasting experience of getting some sweet, some savory, some crunchy, some smooth …. all in the same setting!

Kind of like a ‘Romeo and Juliette’ event at Breakfast.  (Does that translate from a concept I learned in Brazil, to an American thought pattern?) [If not, I can explain in another blog…]

Plus, if you follow Dr Michael Greger, I have knocked out so much of the famous Daily Dozen at Breakfast.

If I ate nothing else the rest of the day, I would have qualified for Dr Joel Furhmans Nutritarian Plan for today…

Also I have been compliant with my first HERO, Dr John McDougall, The Starch Solution!  (Rice, Quinoa, Oatmeal, Beans … …)

Dr Caldwell Esselstyn and Dr T. Colin Campbell would be proud to see the leafy greens for breakfast….

and a longer list of the FEW I follow would all have reason to appreciate this breakfast because it is healthy, simple, and WHOLE FOOD, Plant Based, NO ANIMAL TOXINS were consumed, and no pain inflicted to any other living creature was supported.

Plus it just tastes great, and nourishes my body….

plus it is fun!

I may hold a World Record for ‘Pooping’

How often do you ‘go poop’?

How long are you ‘in there’ trying to go poop?

How successful are your pops?

Why you need to ‘give a poop’ about your poops, and pooping.

I am trying to keep this a unoffensive as possible, but you really should know why this is a important subject.

I remember my Dad going to sit in the restroom for what seemed to be an hour. and it seemed to be on a Thursday night.  Routine I guess.

He would leave the light off, and the door opened a bit so he could hear the music playing in the living room, where he was making 8 track tapes from LP Albums and other records…. so he had to run the stop watch and time the songs… or what ever.

Dad died from Colon Cancer at the age of 53.  Surgery and chemo didn’t help.  I believe it was entirely the fault of his diet.

Do you know what I would do to be able to go back to the age of 53?  That is so young.  Too young to be dead from something a change in Food and Lifestyle could have prevented.

So as far as I know, Dad pooped only once a week, and that was a difficult time for him.

Dad ate the SAD (Standard American Diet)  His meat was always cooked ‘well done’.  He always ate gravy and white bread with the meal…. and his vegetables were … french fry potatoes.

Dead at 53.

Days after he was buried, I read an article in Prevention Magizine stating two slices of REAL Whole Wheat Bread could prevent Colon Cancer.  That article also said something about Broccoli and other vegetables, but all I can recall that changed in my life was that I began to buy store brand ‘wheat bread’ and I put Alfalfa Sprouts on my salads at the Steak House.

Fiber, you know, can save your life…  It could have prevented my Dads death, and so much more…. so much more…

It also helps poop time go so much better!

Fiber not only gathers up toxins from the body, but it cleans the walls of the digestive system, and carried out things that can grow into cancer that kills your Dad, and everyone else if left alone.

Did you know that the healthy time to poop is just a few hours after the food is consumed?  Maybe 12 hours?  You could be pooping every day, but it be ‘in there’ for two days, and that is not good!

I can proudly say I poop everyday at least once.  It is not uncommon I poop three times a day.

I can go to a restroom and poop, and be out in less that two minutes.

I can also poop such a large amount that I actually have a picture of the bowl full !!  I have show that picture to only three people.  LeRoi, Michael, and Cody.

They could not believe the amount.

And I was out in less that two minutes…. and yes, I always wash my hands!

Oh yeah, the amount of flatulence I have is HUGE!  And is always ‘dry’. (A big difference from the times pre heart attack, and pre healthy diet when you could never trust a toot… you could be asking for real trouble…someday I might tell you the story about Toms Care Repair and Bradys Liquor Store …. MAYBE)  I shame other guys who think they can challenge this old man to a ‘toot’ contest. HA!

There are so many ‘side effects’ to not having regular, on time, and EASY Bowel Movements.  Other than keeping the toxins that NEED to be expelled from the body, being reintroduced into the system, difficult Bowel Movements also contribute to Varicose Veins, and Hemorrhoids…. and well there is the issue of cancer……

I am amazed at the conversations I

have heard from Men lately concerning the tramitic ordeals the regularly suffer, from the lack of ‘regularity’.  Some of the most ‘awful’ conversations I hear are like …..” FINALLY SUCCESS ! after a week, I finally had a poop!”

Seriously!?

I poop at least once a day, sometimes three times in one day.

I eat a lot of whole foods, plants, vegetables, fruit seeds, nuts…. and there is not fat gonna stick to me with those foods.

Did I mention I eat a LOT of those things?

Oh, I have read a number of books concerning poop, and the process involved….

Did you know if you are not pooping at least one a day that the poop in the lower intestinal area is adsorbing toxins from the poop, back into the body??

No poop = bad news…..not being regular = bad news.

Fiber is the key.

Oh sure, you can buy Fiber Supplements, throw some spoon fulls of Wheat Bran on you bowl of cereal, but it ain’t gonna help poop.

(By the way, you have heard me say I am totally NOT A FAN of Supplements, right?  Read ‘The China Story’, and ‘Whole’ by T. Colin Campbell to see why I do not support the evil doctrine of reductionism….. ( I hope I spelled that correctly…)

The most IMPORTANT thing you can count, measure or fear is the amount of FIBER you are getting everyday!!  NOT calories, protein, nor carbs.

You see, both my parents died from lifestyle diseases that could have been prevented by the proper intake of fiber….

…. because the only place you will get healthy FIBER is in WHOLE FOODS…

Therefore, the only place to be healthy is WHOLE FOODS.

Plants, Fruits, Nuts, Seeds, and as far from PROCESSED ANYTHING POSSIBLE.

If your spending too much time in the bathroom trying to force ‘one out’, your either killing yourself with your lifestyle, and setting family and friends up for a big heartache when you come down with a Chronic Disease, self inflicted, and preventable.

In fact I say if you are spending too much time in the bathroom trying to force ‘one out’ then you are  SPENDING TOO MUCH TIME counting calories, measuring proteins, and too much time fearing carbs….

The more you food you eat, the more weight you lose.

Now I am talking about REAL FOOD, and Healthy Food.

Please understand if it is processed food, junk food, sugar filled stuff, it is not real food.

And as you well know, that food is not going to help you lose weight, nor will it do anything to make you Healthy.

But! Nutritionally Rich Food … Whole Foods… that is, not processed is not going to make you fat, nor unhealthy.

And you can eat a lot…. eat until you are full… and when you get hungry, eat again.

Sounds too easy huh?

Well, what ever, it is what I did and the weight loss is at 79 pounds so far.

I never went hungry, as a person on a ‘diet’ usually feels.

It is NOT about cutting calories… limiting consumption …. that is un-natural !

When you cut back on consumption, and calories, then the body naturally thinks you must be starving  so it starts to save what it assumes you need for more starvation….

That is opposite what your intentions are in losing weight.

The most enjoyable part of my weight loss, and caring for the health of my body, it the FACT that I eat all I want, and when I want it.

People look at me and express astonishment at the amount of food I eat and still lose weight!

Or even that I don’t gain it all back!

But what you eat makes all the difference!

And I ate a lot of it!!

This following picture shows my Lunch Box in those first months!  I am serious!  And a lot of days, it came home empty!  BUT I WAS NOT EMPTY!!

Ok, I a going to hold off on another picture because I want to address another issue noted by a fellow who had seen this picture of Dr McDougall and questioned if he ever had time away from the restroom…. so we are going to weight…. NO WAIT till next blog to address that issue!

I never counted calories (still don’t) I never measured Protein ( ARE YOU SERIOUS !LOL !?) and I never feared CARBS !!! (REALLY)

Ok, there is a little more than that, but it really works!

Just the other day after we returned from the Grocery, I was getting the fresh Spinach ready for the frig.

This Spinach had really long stems…which I always try to eat, rather than throwing them in the compost.

OH MY GOSH! THE FLAVOR of this batch was like sweet candy!

I kid you NOT!  After eating almost the half the Spinach just bought, I decide it was time to wrap up the cleaning, and grazing, and get it in the refrigerator!

Since I have followed what Dr Lisle teaches for over two years, I am STILL amazed at the wonderful flavor of Spinach Stalks, the Trunk of the Broccoli, and so much stuff I used to throw away!

Hey! It is fiber, and full of Nutrition the ‘popular’ part of the veggies might not have!

Besides, when the stalk of the Collard, Mustard, and Turnip Greens begin to taste better that the main parts, you know something has changed! (And it taste so much better than dead bugs off a thorn, right!?)
